Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adu popularly called Agya Koo believes the Kumawood movie industry is losing its value because some key individuals like himself have been blacklisted.

The outspoken actor on Saturday told Bismakr Boachie aka DJ Premiere on Accra FM that most movie lovers bought films based on the pictures they saw on the poster. He added that the public started losing interest in purchasing local movies when popular faces like himself, Mercy Asiedu, Wayoosi, Katawere, and others were no longer seen on CDs.

To him, the movie industry started collapsing after movie producers planned never to use the old folk who fought Nigerian movies decades ago. The comic actor further stressed that the movie producers have regretted sidelining them but they feel shy to make it known to the world because of public backlash.

“The job started collapsing when they stopped using us. Most of the people bought movies because our heads were on the poster. So the industry starting crumbling when they stopped using Mercy Asiedu, Katawere, Wayoosi, myself and few others.

They know very well that their action against us was bad but how will they communicate it to the public? They have regretted what they did but they cannot tell Ghanaians.

What sin did we commit before they planned not to use us again? Agya Koo told the show host.

Giving an antidote to the dying movie industry, the actor cum musician advised moviemakers to start using the actors they sidelined years back.
