Multimedia Group journalist, Gloria Akpene Acquah popularly called MzGee has commenced a challenge to shame men who demand sex from ladies before giving them a job.
The Joy News and Hitz FM presenter in a video Zionfelix.net has watched shares a story of how a popular Ghanaian moviemaker killed her acting dream in 2004. According to MzGee in the minute and few seconds video, the producer whose name she failed to mention constantly demanded sex from her anytime she met him at audition in Accra.
The man who she described as the gateway to the movie industry told her point-blank that “you need to sleep with me to get a role in this industry” but she declined.
“In Ghana, it is difficult for ladies to talk about their sexual harassment because we get vilified. I tell you a story of myself in 2003, 2004 when when I wanted to become an actress. I went for auditions at many hotels but there was one man I met him at almost all auditions. He was like the gateway to the movie industry back then. He looked me in the face an said you need to sleep with me and get a role in the industry but I declined. I never got a role but fast forward 2018 I can boast of a job I never slept with anyone for an it is still showbiz.” Zionfelix.net heard MzGee in the video.
The TV host’s challenge she said was motivated by women dressed in black at the Golden Globe Awards in solidarity with women who have been sexually abused.
Mrs. Acquah further asked entertainers and ladies who have been sexually abused to name and shame men who put up such a character.
