Ghanaian comic actor Kalybos has recounted his fondest memories with late Ghanaian dancehall musician Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, popularly called Ebony.
Real name Richard Kwaku Asante, the comedian on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix show narrating his first encounter with the ‘Sponsor’ songstress revealed that they met at Kofi Asamoah’s studio in Accra. According to him, Ebony used to record her songs at the Kofas Media studio three years back when she was not a superstar.
He added that they did not have an encounter again after the studio meeting until they met at People’s Choice awards in 2017 at the Accra International Conference Center. Kalybos further mentioned that he talked to Ebony about plans of featuring her in his new comedy skits but death could not make the dream see daylight.
Talking about an attribute of the late singjay he cannot forget, the ‘John and John’ actor on the show hosted by Zionfelix hailed the 90’s bad girl for her cooking skills. To him, Ebony’s ‘Jollof’ rice is one of the best in the country.
Ebony known for hit songs like ‘Kupe’, ‘Dancefloor’, ‘Date Ur Father’, ‘Hustle’ and many others died in a fatal accident on Thursday, February 8 on the Sunyani-Kumasi road when returning from Sunyani after a family visit. She died with two others.
Final funeral rites for the late musician is expected to happen on March 17 this year.
