Kuami Eugene’s ‘Angela’ is a big tune but nobody knows the hustle the Lynx Entertainment signee faced before recording such a classic song.
The song Ghanaians have been enjoying for months now originally was to have another artiste’s voice but that could not happen. Richie Mensah, boss of Lynx Entertainment speaking on Zylofon FM and monitored by zionfelix.net disclosed that three top Ghanaian artistes were contacted to feature on the song but all said no to the request.
According to him, the musicians were reluctant in working with Kuami Eugene on the ‘Angela’ tune because he had not shown Ghanaians his talent. Richie added that he understood the musicians for declining their feature at the time they needed them for the song.
He further said things have changed after the song became a monster hit following its release.
“When we were trying to make the boys, did you see anyone helping us? Why do you think that their songs don’t have features? When we were releasing Angela last year, I can mention three big artistes we tried to get on it but all turned it down.
I don’t blame them because they were thinking he is new and has not proven himself yet but now that they have proven themselves, when we make calls for feature, they easily agree to jump on it” Richie told Sammy Flex, host of the entertainment morning show.
Kuami Eugene’s ‘Angela’ was nominated for the Highlife song of the year category at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and has a little over five million on Youtube at the time of this publication.
