Award-winning Ghanaian singer born Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor but known in the showbiz circles as Efya has alleged that she was always beaten during her days in secondary school because of her mother.

The Neo singer who is the daughter of celebrated Ghanaian filmmaker and the host of “Greetings from Abroad”, Nana Adwoa Awindor made this revelation while reflecting on her childhood during an interview.

According to the ‘Gingam Too Much’ singer, she specifically got bullied a lot in Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School where she had her secondary education because of her famous mother

“It was very stressful. There was a lot of pressure. I got beaten up because of my mom when I got to secondary school,” Efya revealed.

Speaking to Doreen Avio on Joy Prime, the eclectic songbird said pursuing music was not in her plans as she had always wanted to follow in the footsteps of her film director dad.
