Billionaire Elon Musk in November 2022 gave a hint that he was going to take away the blue tick verification from most celebrities, academics, journalists, and even some organizations.
The current owner of Twitter indicated that this was his way of making the platform one that has a pay-for-play system and that most of these individuals who wanted to keep the blue tick verification ought to pay $8 per month to join the platform’s Twitter Blue subscription service.

Well, Elon Musk has walked the talk because, on Thursday, April 20, 2023, the purge of blue verification check marks from users who have not signed up for its subscription service disappeared from their accounts.
Globally, some famous people with huge followers on the Bird app like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Bill Gates, Pope Francis, former president Donald Trump, and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey have all lost their blue check verifications.

Almost every top star in Ghana’s entertainment industry who had the verification check on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, has lost it at the time this article was being drafted.
Notable names like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Efya, KiDi, Joselyn Dumas, Samini, Kuami Eugene, Yvonne Nelson, Black Sherif, Gyakie, King Promise, Edem, Kofi Kinaata, John Dumelo, and many others currently have their accounts looking ordinary which is already rising concerns about impersonation.
