The 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards had many surprises as has always been the case.
Some artists who were tipped by many industry persons to win particular awards failed to bag them as those awards ended up going to other people in the category.
It appears that the same happened in the heavily contested Album of the Year category.
For this category a lot of music lovers and people who followed the activities that happened in the music space in 2022, Black Sherif‘s ‘The Villian I Never Was’ album was tipped to win this category without a shred of doubt.
To the surprise of many, King Promise’s ‘5 Star’ album was announced as the winner of the category when the award event took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center.
The declaration of King Promise as the winner category surprised many people at the auditorium and on social media.
When the manager of Black Sherif was however asked how they felt when he lost out on that particular award, he surprisingly revealed that the sensational young music talent was cool about.
He added that Black Sherif was happy for King Promise because, after all, they are all colleagues in the industry who must at all times support each other.
