The 24th edition of arguably the biggest music awards event in Ghana, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
On the night, a lot of Ghanaian celebrities, especially, the musicians who were going to be honored for the work they have done under the year in review were at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center to have a blissful.
One face that was strangely missing at this year’s VGMAs was the one of the award-winning female singer, Wendy Addo, popularly called Wendy Shay.
The Rufftown Records signed musician is one who hardly misses such events but on this occasion was missing in action.
When the opportunity presented itself after the show during an interview with her road manager, Nana Reagan, renowned Ghanaian blogger/vlogger, Zionfelix, inquired from the management team why their artiste was not seen at the awards event.
Nana Reagan disclosed that the absence of Wendy Shay from the VMGAs was not intentional, rather, the ‘Survivor’ hitmaker is currently out of the country taking care of other equally important businesses.
When Zionfelix tried to play the devil’s advocate and suggest that Wendy Shay failed to attend the award’s event this year because she felt she was not going to pick an award, Nana Reagan was quick to state emphatically that this was never the case.
Reagan went further to add that Wendy Shay could have picked an award because she really worked under the year in review and deserved it just as any other person who won.
