In the last twenty-four hours, the Ghanaian social media space has been on literal fire as netizens have been reacting to portions of the new book released by Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson.
The book which is titled ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’ opens the life of the actress to the world and highlights various difficulties she went through while growing up.
Currently, the two issues from the book which have become major talking points on social media are Yvonne’s explosive revelation about how iconic Ghanaian musician, Sarkodie, supposedly impregnated her back in 2010 and forced her to abort it because he had another girlfriend at the time.
The other explosive revelation that is also causing a lot of stir on social media is the revelation by the YN Production CEO that Nigerian musician, Iyanya supposedly cheated on him multiple times with actress Tonto Dikeh at the time she felt they were madly in love.
While the above revelations are quite interesting, the choice of the title of the book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’ appears to be another interesting aspect of the memoir.
Apparently, the late Mr. Nelson, who was constantly bashed by the award-winning actress is not even her real father, and as such, the Nelson name she bears should not be the case, hence the title of the book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’.
Yvonne Nelson in one of the chapters of the book disclosed that she is currently going through excruciating pain and regret after she found out that the man she has been calling out is not her real father.
“I do not know where to begin this and what it will achieve, but I feel strongly about it. I know I have to do it. I feel I owe you an apology, even if the timing is wrong and my apology may mean nothing to you,” she wrote in the book.
She also added: “However, I have now come to understand that you had no reason to be part of my life at all. You owed me nothing, not even your surname. I have come to know the truth and realised that you may have had your own battles as far as I was concerned. You were not my father and I was not your daughter.”
Mr Nelson died in 2017 and at the time, the actress did not even attend his funeral because she was convinced the innocent man is her father who doesn’t care about her.
She adds that this revelation has somehow placed a strain on her relationship with her mother because she can’t understand why her mother lied to her about Mr Nelsonm stressing that she has not seen her mother for the past year now.
