Ghanaian vlogger and blogger, Samuel Dortey Kumah, popularly known as Sammy Kay, the prominent figure behind Sammykay Media, has recently been embroiled in controversy, resulting in his arrest and subsequent handing over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) cited Mr. Kumah for the alleged dissemination of sexually explicit material and the unauthorized use of images belonging to CSA officials.
This development has sparked a wave of concern, and the association to which he belongs, the New Media Association of Ghana, has joined the many voices currently speaking to beg for his release.
The association, through its Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Adebayo, issued a formal apology in response to the incident involving their esteemed member.
The released statement emphasized the regrettable oversight in content that inadvertently led to the promotion of explicit material on Sammykay Media’s platform.
“We would like to express our sincerest apology for any offense or concern this may have caused, especially considering the ethical standards upheld by The New Media Association of Ghana,” the statement read.
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the association assured the public of Mr. Kumah’s immediate corrective measures to rectify the issue and prevent any recurrence in the future.
They also implored the cybersecurity authorities to consider pardoning Mr. Kumah’s actions in this specific instance, emphasizing their faith in the commitment of their members to uphold the highest standards of ethical practice.
