Renowned Ghanaian sound engineer and music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah, fondly known as Uncle Fredyma, took to social media today, December 23, 2033, to express his overwhelming joy and gratitude following a surprise visit from the award-winning Ghanaian musician, Ofori Amponsah.
In a post he made on his Facebook wall, Uncle Fredyma mentioned how proud and happy he felt that Ofori Amponsah decided to visit his house immediately after delivering a stellar performance at the Ready to Perform Concert held at the Platinum Bay Hotel.
Uncle Fredyma also went on to recount their journey from nearly over a decade ago in the creative industry in the post.
He also revealed that the music maestro was delighted and surprised that his children, particularly Kyei Mensah, whom he remembered seeing in their formative years were all grown ups now.
The post Fred Kyei Mensah made reads:
“WHEN OFORI AMPONSAH VISITED MY HOUSEHOLD TODAY.
In my almost 40 years of being in the creative industry, never have i felt so good than Ofori Amponsah’s surprise visit to my household this morning straight away after putting up a great performance at the Platinum Bay Hotel between last night and the wee hours of this morning. He was lit on the Ready to Perform Concert featuring Nana Amakye Dede, KK Fosu, KayBlez, Afriyie Wutah, OB Amponsah and others.
In his own time, he makes things so beautiful. He was surprised to see my children whom he saw in their formative years, grow to such heights especially Kyei Mensah because, the very day that DADDY LUMBA had booked CHM studios then at Mataheko for him to record his hit song “odo mmra fie”, was the very day he was given birth to that was a Valentine’s day.
We reminisced life when i discovered him 32 years ago, the challenges over the years and the way forward. One of the bitterest memories we revisted was, when i took him to perform at the newly opened National Theater in June 1993 together with Chairman General Kwami Sefa Kayi , the late Kofi Ani Johnson, General Marcus, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, Kwame Yeboah, Selina Orleans Lindsay, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and others and was sacked from Konongo Odumase SHS for appearing on tv during school time ⏲️. We pleaded with the then Headmaster for mercy and he retorted “Ko na ko bo Concert band” because you preferred going on stage to learning in stages. Today, he is indeed playing concerts all over the world. Onyame ho y3 hu!
We are charting a new course in 2024. Ofori Amponsah, my household, is grateful for your visit and the powerful prophecies and prayers you laid on us this morning. I believe in your prophetic gift. Thanks for your visit and continue doing so often. What a beautiful precursor to the Christmas celebrations 🍾.
Good beads don’t rattle.”
