Ghanaian musician Amerado has set the music scene ablaze with his latest release, a freestyle track titled “Point 5.”
After spending a greater part of the year 2023 and the early part of 2024 releasing a lot of tracks that had him singing, he decided to announce his return to doing a lot of rap songs with this diss track in the late hours of Friday, June 14, 2024.
Readers will recall that Amerado decided to surprise his fans by exploring a different musical path with several songs that showcased his singing abilities, including “Kwaku Ananse,” “Abronoma,” and “Tin Ton Tan.”
While these tracks earned him a new audience and considerable commercial success, they also sparked criticism from some quarters, particularly from fellow rappers and fans who felt he had strayed too far from his rap origins.
In “Point 5,” Amerado addresses these critics head-on. The track, laced with hard-hitting bars and aggressive delivery, aims at those celebrating his supposed departure from rap.
“They think I quit, but I just took a pause. Now I’m back to claim my crown,” Amerado states with unwavering confidence in the track.
The diss track also doesn’t shy away from controversy. Amerado goes hard at several anonymous rappers in Ghana who have been reveling in his absence from the rap game.
He calls out their premature celebrations and warns them to brace themselves for his return.
Amerado also sheds light on the reason behind his foray into singing. In “Point 5,” he explains that the shift was financially motivated. “I went out there to do some singing despite being a rapper because it was paying well,” he states.
The release of “Point 5” has already garnered significant attention, sparking discussions across social media and within the Ghanaian music community. Fans are thrilled to see Amerado back in his element, delivering the kind of fiery, unapologetic rap that first catapulted him to fame.
