In the wake of Amerado’s explosive return to rap with his diss track “Point 5,” fellow Ghanaian musician Medikal has issued a response.
Amerado‘s track, which dropped on Friday, June 14, 2024, has been the talk of the town, especially for its bold call-outs and confident declaration of his return to the rap scene.
Medikal, known for his strong presence in the Ghanaian rap industry as well, did not take kindly to Amerado’s latest release.
In a video shared from his bed, Medikal unleashed a torrent of insults aimed at Amerado, focusing particularly on Amerado’s mother.
The rapper was seen repeatedly saying “wo maame twe,” a deeply offensive insult in the Akan language, which translates to a vulgar phrase directed at Amerado’s mother.
The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread comments from different factions within the music community and fans, as many were shocked by the personal nature of Medikal’s insults.
Amerado’s “Point 5” freestyle had already set the stage for intense reactions. In the track, Amerado aimed at anonymous rappers who had been critical of his recent musical direction and were celebrating his supposed departure from rap. With lines like “They think I quit, but I just took a pause. Now I’m back to claim my crown,” Amerado made it clear that his rap hiatus was temporary and he was back to reaffirm his dominance.
Medikal’s video response, however, took the rivalry to a new and unexpected level. Instead of addressing the lyrical content of “Point 5,” Medikal’s attack was personal and directed at Amerado’s family, a move that many fans and observers have deemed unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional.
