Ghanaian musician and songwriter, Stay Jay, has argued that most artistes in the music space are not songwriters.

Born William Kojo Johnson, the ‘Yenko Nkoaa’ singer stated in an interview with AJ Sarpong on 3FM Lounge that songwriting is not an easy task.

To him, songwriting is a calling—and it takes a talented individual to be successful in this field.

“Songwriting is not easy…I don’t think a lot of people are writers. They just get the vibe and just do whatever they do but if you want to be a writer, it’s a calling, you have to get the gift from God,” he said.

After admitting the difficulty in writing songs, Stay Jay added that he does not struggle to write songs.

“Always when I am in the studios, I pray before I do a song and I don’t write a song. It just comes to my head with the beat and everything and I just tell the engineer and we are good to go,” he further stated.
