Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, well-known as Shatta Wale, has written a letter to Ghana’s new president John Dramani Mahama.

He called for reform of Ghana’s music system in his post on social media.

The leader of the Shatta Movement wishes this reform will attract professionals in the radio and television space.

Wale emphasised that the entertainment industry in Ghana needs change.

The ‘Gringo’ composer wants the betterment of the industry for future generations to benefit.

Shatta Wale wrote: “Letter to our new President of Ghana
I wish our new president John Dramani Mahama can also reform our music system to attract more professionals on radio and television, similar to the appointment of new ministers when they assume power.

The entertainment industry needs that change. The younger ones coming can’t go through what some of us have been through. My humble 🙏 wish… just for the next generations to come and see this music business as a job and not just fun.”
