Ghanaian MC, music producer, voiceover artiste, DJ, singer and broadcaster Mercury Quaye has tagged most artiste managers as nothing but mere errand boys.
Over the years, industry players like Nhyiraba Kojo and Mark Okraku Mantey have all questioned the prominence of artiste managers and called them literal puppets and errand boys.
In an interview on Homebase TV which was monitored by zionfelix.net, he said “most of them are errand boys because they only facilitate things for artistes but that isn’t management”.
According to him, management involves actually directing, shaping and building someone.
He added that for someone to be qualified as an artiste manager, he should be the mastermind behind everything the artiste does.
He said, “Everything that people see must come from the manager’s view point”.
In Mercury’s books, the only management he identifies with in the industry are Lynx Entertainment and Rufftown Records.
