The president of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has today, March 27, 2020, announced that some areas in the country which might be hugely affected by the coronavirus disease will be locked down.
The president, during his fourth broadcast to the citizenry about things the country is doing about the spread of the disease, stated that the lockdown will take place for two weeks, beginning 1 am, Monday, March 30 dawn.
The lockdown announced by the president will affect some major areas in Accra, some other major areas in Kumasi, which is Ghana’s second most highly populated city, and Tema.
The lockdown, he explained is to enable contact tracing of persons who have come into contact with persons who have tested positive for the deadly virus
Despite the lockdown, the President announced that people who offer essential services will be allowed to go about their normal duties at this time until there is a need for a review.

He also called on all Ghanaians to come together and fight against the deadly disease and put away all sorts of petty politicking at this time.
So far four people have died of the disease, 137 confirmed cases recorded and two recovered victims.
