The month of March has been set aside as ‘Ghana Month’ for Ghanaians to eat, drink, wear and use only locally produced materials and services.
Radio and TV personality Abeiku Santana who has been at the forefront of tourism promotion in Ghana is pleading with Ghanaians to regard the month with great respect. The boss of Kaya Tours, in a conversation with Zionelix.net, begged his fellow countrymen to honour the month so as to inspire local manufacturers.
“I’m throwing my support for the campaign that Ghanaians should patronize made in Ghana goods and services – from food, clothing, music, movies to anything that is produced in Ghana. Let’s make the whole month of March a month of celebrating Ghanaian producers in all field of endeavours.” he said.
Abeiku Santana who has been promoting tourism for long further asked Ghanaians to halt the purchase of foreign foods and rush for “the food we have grown here in Ghana”. To him, the raw materials for Ghanaian dishes get wasted when they are not used after a week of harvest which causes loss to the producers and sellers.
Abeiku Santana real name Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana argued that the country’s economy would rise if all Ghanaians adhere to his request made in an urgent and emotional manner.
