Access Smile Foundation is a non-governmental organization with the aim of providing the most pressing social amenities to less endowed communities and inner cities. Since its inception, Access Smile Foundation has provided free health screening for more than 1500 people in the Sekyere Afram plains District and the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti region and organized clean-up exercises in collaboration with the Ashanti Youth for Sanitation and Zoomlion within the Kumasi Metropolis.

Aside from the above, Access Smile Foundation is also constructing a KG Block for the Dagomba D/A Primary School in the Sekyere Afram Plains District. The current structure which serves as a classroom block for the KG 1&2 (combined classroom) has become a death trap and Access Smile Foundation is building two separate blocks to bring to an end the combined classroom for the kids. In the same project, a total of about 5000 exercise books would be shared among the pupils within the Dagomba Electoral Area of the Sekyere Afram Plains District in Ashanti Region.

Access Smile Foundation is currently spearheading a sanitation agenda in the Old Tafo Municipality by augmenting the government’s efforts with Concrete Waste Bins.

Why “Concrete Waste Bins”?

Concrete waste bins are durable and will withstand any weather, they are extremely heavy and therefore less easily vandalized. Concrete Waste Bins have been used in other jurisdictions and have proven to be durable and therefore very effective in waste collection.

Over the years, successive governments have made conscious efforts to provide waste bins through the MMDA’s in conjunction with waste management companies like Zoomlion and the rest.

These bins are mostly plastics that are placed in vantage points to provide easy access to curb the menace of littering. However, due to the nature of the bins (mostly plastic and movability), they do not last longer as expected.

In the first trench of this project, Access Smile Foundation will provide the municipality with 76 concrete waste bins which would be followed by another 97. It is the aim of Access Smile Foundation to provide the whole of Kumasi Metro with these bins and spread them to the whole country.
