Ghanaian actress and TV presenter Beverly Afaglo has expressed her excitement at the new directive from the Ghana National Film Authority which stated that they will review amd classify audio-visual contents including Telenovelas before they are shown on screens from May 1, 2021 onwards.
The directive which was issued a few days ago and signed by the Chairman of the Film Classification Committee, Socrates Safo, threatened to prosecute any TV station which violates it.
In comments sighted by zionfelix.net on Instagram, Beverly Afaglo is happy about the new initiative.
She is even calling on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to take over the execution of the directive like they did when they banned celebrities from doing sports betting advertisements.
Beverly wants Ghanaian local TV stations to be forced to buy contents from local producers to help support and promote the industry.
As to whether viewers will watch the local content, Beverly believes that it’s just a matter of time and they will be used to it since it’s the only thing available.
