The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, situated at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, has been completely vandalized by unknown individuals.

The statue was unveiled on November 6, 2024, during a ceremony attended by the former president.

The statue was intended to honour his contributions to the region’s development.

However, the monument faced criticism from some residents who questioned its necessity and timing.

The first act of vandalism occurred on December 16, 2024, when the statue’s left leg was found damaged.

Authorities repaired the statue soon after, but no arrests were made in connection with the incident.

The latest attack, which has left the statue entirely toppled, comes less than a week after Akufo-Addo left office as president.
