After his recent meeting with key stakeholders in the Kumawood movie industry, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has taken a further step towards revitalizing Ghana’s film and creative arts sector in Kumasi.
He announced via his Facebook in a post he shared on Tuesday, March 5, 2025, that he has officially commissioned a Ministerial Committee on the Movie Industry & Creatives (Kumawood).

According to Dr. Amoakohene, the newly formed committee has been entrusted with a clear mandate aimed at driving the growth and transformation of Kumawood and the broader creative industry.
Also, the committee’s responsibilities include assessing the current state of the industry and identifying key challenges that have hampered its progress over the years.
In his post seen by zionfelix.net, the Minister went on to outline strategic areas the committee will focus on, such as developing robust policies to attract both local and foreign investment, ensuring sustainable growth, and exploring innovative strategies to promote Ghanaian films on both local and international platforms.
He emphasized the need to strengthen film infrastructure by improving production facilities and providing more training opportunities for young and aspiring filmmakers.
Beyond infrastructure, the committee will work to enhance film festivals and cultural showcases, which Dr. Amoakohene believes are crucial in celebrating Ghanaian storytelling and creativity.
He again highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between stakeholders — filmmakers, actors, producers, and other creatives — to create a thriving ecosystem with greater opportunities for all involved.
