The first night of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards weekend starting today, June 25, 2021.
Today’s ceremony is known as Industry Night and 13 awards were presented, including Group of the Year and African Artiste of the Year.
On the night, one award which has so far become the talk of the town is the Song Writer Of The Year award which was won by the Fante Rap god, Kofi Kinaata.
Wiinning the award this year means that Kinaata has won it for the fourth time.
He beat the tight competition of Diana Hamilton, Adina, Joe Mettle, Abiana, and Epixode to win the award at the 22nd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
Kofi Kinaata first won the Songwriter of the Year in 2016, then picked it up again in 2017.
He lost that position to Ebony, who won it posthumously in 2018. In 2019, the Songwriter of the Year went to King Promise, but then, Kinaata picked it up again in 2020, and now in 2021.
Congrats to him.
