Black Sherif, the sensational rapper and singer, has been crowned the Artiste of the Year at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Despite the talks suggesting that the gospel music fraternity was going to pull a surprise this time as well, the young star managed to beat stiff competition from Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi, Piesie Esther, and Joe Mettle to clinch the coveted award.
Black Sherif also won three other awards on the night which are Best Music Video of the Year, Best Hip-hop Song of the Year, and the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year.
After he was named the ‘Artiste of the Year’, Blacko stormed the stage and gave an energetic performance before he finally delivered a speech to thank his fans for their love and support throughout 2022.
He also announced exclusively that he was releasing an EP on June 22, 2023, for his fans to enjoy something new from him.

The VGMA is the biggest night in Ghana’s music industry and celebrates the achievements of music artistes who have excelled under the year of review.
