Black Sherif was crowned the 2022 Entertainment Personality of the Year at the 2nd edition of the Ghana Entertainment Awards held on 26th February 2022 at the Marriott Hotel, Accra.
Organized by Accra based Citi FM, the event aims at rewarding outstanding individuals in the field of entertainment including music, film, fashion, hospitality and more.
Black Sherif’s win did not come as a surprise to many as his dominance on the music scene has been tremendous from 2021. The 20-year old artist dominated the music charts with his drill inspired, magnus opus “Second Sermon”. The success of the song led to a remix version
with Grammy award-winning, Nigerian superstar Burna Boy.

Black Sherif emerged on the scene in 2019 with his seminal record “Money”. Blacko, as he is also known, saw his fame moving up a notch after releasing “First Sermon” before cementing it with “Second Sermon”.
For his acceptance speech, the management of Black Sherif expressed profound gratitude to the organizers of the Ghana Entertainment Awards, the fans and Ghanaians for their continuous love and support for Black Sherif.
This is the first major award won by Black Sherif.
