Kuami Eugene has blasted critics for saying that he does not deserve the highlife crown Amakye Dede bestowed on him during the 2019 VGMAs.
In an interview, Kuami Eugene said that he did not force the legendary singer to crown him but rather Amakye Dede gave him that recognition because of what he had seen.
He added that it is disrespectful to Amakye Dede for people to say that he Kumai Eugene forced Amakye Dede to give him the crown.
According to him, Amakye Dede out of his own free will gave him the crown and told him to hold it very well to which he gave thanks.
Responding to suggestions that Kuami Eugene is too young to be crowned the king of highlife because he has only recently started gaining recognition in the industry, he stated that if he did not deserve the crown, there is no way someone like Amakye Dede would waste his time to give it to him.
Secondly, he said that Ghanaians do not value the contributions of young people and are waiting for him to die before they sing his praises.
