With the rapid increase in the cases of the deadly and fast-spreading coronavirus in Ghana and other Africa countries who sit for the West Africa Examination Council Examination, the body has decided to suspend their already released time-table until further notice.
This decision was taken yesterday, March 19 after a coalition of Pre-tertiary teacher unions urged the government to suspend this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

SUSPENSION OF WASSCE (SO 2O2O TIMETABLE
Our memorandum referenced REG.4.01WASSCE/XXIU202 dated March 19. 2020 on the above-mentioned subject refers.
The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-l9 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates,2020 as agreed by the National Offices.
Please note that the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule WASSCE (SC) 2020 was approved by the Chairman of Council.
Consequently, the Registrar hereby directs that
- The WASSCE (SC) 2020Timetable be suspended until further notice;
- The conduct of WASSCE (SC) 2020be put on hold until further notice;
- Directives (1) and (2) will be reviewed when the health situation improves.
