DJ Annan, one of Ghana’s premier turntable wizards, sheds light on the challenges of sound management at events, particularly for official DJs of artists in the industry.
In an interview, DJ Annan highlighted the issue of sound management as a significant hurdle faced by DJs working at events. He proposed the implementation of different disc jockeying setups to address the problem of conflicting equipment control at events. “One major issue DJs encounter with event organizers is sound management,” DJ Annan remarked.
He suggested the adoption of distinct setups for the main DJs of the event and those of performing artists to alleviate such conflicts. Despite acknowledging the high cost of disc jockeying equipment, DJ Annan emphasized the importance of carrying personal controllers to handle unexpected situations at events.
DJ Annan, also known as the official DJ for the sensational Donzy, shared insights into his role during performances. He mentioned how he sometimes adjusts the playlist based on the crowd’s mood, with Donzy’s approval, reflecting the trust placed in him by the artists. “Donzy gives me the go-ahead in such circumstances because they believe in me,” he disclosed.
Furthermore, DJ Annan advised fellow DJs to refrain from overshadowing musicians’ performances with unnecessary scratches but instead focus on enhancing the overall show’s success.
Born Eric Annan, DJ Annan is not only an event organizer but also a club and video mix DJ currently captivating audiences at Laxio’s Barr in Accra.
