Dancehall musician Ebony is not happy about TV3 playing her new song titled ‘Sponsor’ and editing certain portions of it.
Zionfelix.net notices that some parts of the song where the musician says in Twi “menk) te’a 3y3 me ya” which translates “They complain it pains them” has been censored but Ebony thinks that should not been done because those parts are not vulgar as management of the TV station sees it.
The fast rising female dancehall artiste in a Facebook post thanked the Adesa We-located TV station for their support. She later asked them not to redact any part of the song because there are no bawdy words in the song.
On Facebook, Ebony wrote “My song sponsor talks about the realities of life and what is happening in our society.sponsor does not encourage young girls to go date older rich men.there is no single explicit lyrics in the song sponsor.menk) te’a 3y3 me ya is twi my local language.TV3 thanks for supporting my music by playing my sponsor video but please can you kindly remove that (censor)sound you put in the video when you are showing it?thank you#sponsor”
