The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has re-echoed his plan of creating a local streaming platform.

Eight months ago, Dr Bawumia first talked about his intention to introduce digital and streaming platforms for Ghanaian artistes if he becomes President.

He made this promise during his lecture ‘Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future’ at the University of Professional Studies in Accra on February 7, 2024.

The NPP Presidential Candidate stressed his promise after meeting with some industry players and celebs on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

He vowed to help creatives boost their monetization since they are not earning much currently.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stressed that a local streaming platform will be created for artistes to earn from their creativity.

Noting that the current streaming platforms are all owned by foreigners, he averred having a local platform would be beneficial.

Dr Bawumia opened up about partnering with the Musicians Union of Ghana, Ghana Music Rights Organization and others to make this come to fruition.
