So in the last three days or so, the wife of Keche Andrew and the CEO of Golden Legacy Empire, Joana Gyan has been ridiculed a lot on various social media platforms just because she decided to state that her net worth is about $700,000,000 in an interview with the hard-talking Deloris Frimpong Manso aka Delay.
Well, I will not want to join the bandwagon to state that she either lied or spoke the truth because I don’t really have any tangible evidence to back either of the stance mentioned earlier.

However, after watching the interview about four times and following a lot of the commentary about the whole brouhaha on social media and radio, I am very certain that Joana Gyan was a little confused, if not totally confused during the interview.
Firstly, when the question about how much she invested in her gold business came up at the early stages of the interview, Joana stated that she invested $200,000.
Now this is where it gets confusing. As soon as she made this revelation, she again added that personally she had just about GHC7000 of her own as capital she invested in the business and also disclosed that Stanbic Bank gave her some $160,000 to also invest when she started.
A simple calculation of these figures will give you something above $360,000 as initial capital invested and not the $200,000 she mentioned.
There is also the question about her net worth and her response that many people have described as ludicrous.
A simple search of the word net worth on google will give you the feedback “Net worth is the value of all the non-financial and financial assets owned by an institutional unit or sector minus the value of all its outstanding liabilities“
That is to say, it is not something that can be described as money one ‘earns each year’.
Just recently, the Forbes Magazine disclosed that the net worth of Jay Z is 1 Billion Dollars, which was based on his expansive kingdom encompassing spirits (his Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac), art (including work by Jean-Michel Basquiat), real estate (homes in Los Angeles, the Hamptons, Tribeca) and stakes in companies from Uber to Robinhood and not the money he gets from his business at the end of each year.
But in the case of Mrs. Joana Gyan, she decided to tell Delay and all her viewers that she does about $700,000,000 every year, which is not possible, to say the least, if we are making any discussion about net worth.
