The glitz and glamour of the Ghanaian music industry illuminated the Royal Regency in London as the 2023 Ghana Music Awards UK unfolded on Saturday night.

In a night filled with breathtaking performances and electrifying moments, dancehall sensation Shatta Wale emerged as the shining star, claiming the coveted title of Artist of the Year. Shatta Wale’s victory was no small feat, as he triumphed over a pool of exceptionally talented artists, including Black Sherif, Piesie Esther, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and King Promise.
Shatta Wale’s triumph continued with additional wins in significant categories, including Reggae/Dancehall Artist of The Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year for his hit track “On God,” and the prestigious Most Dominant Fan Base of the Year, a testament to his massive and dedicated fan following.
Gospel music found its rightful spotlight as well, with Piesie Esther being celebrated for her outstanding contributions. She claimed multiple awards, including Gospel Song of The Year for her soul-stirring track “Wayε Me Yie,” Gospel Artiste of The Year, and the esteemed Songwriter of the Year award.
The night also saw remarkable talents being acknowledged across various genres. Rising star Black Sherif secured the title of Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste of The Year, while Akwaboah charmed the audience, winning the Highlife Artiste of The Year award.
The ever-talented Sarkodie bagged the awards for Best Rapper of the Year and Best Collaboration of the Year for his exceptional work in “Country Side” featuring Black Sherif.
The event was not only a platform for local recognition but also highlighted the global impact of Ghanaian artists.
The UK-based categories celebrated talents making waves internationally, with artists like Charles Kalah and Alice McKenzie claiming prestigious awards for their outstanding work in the diaspora.
