Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats musician and ‘Banku’ Music originator, Mr. Eazi, real name Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade is wondering if the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) is actually giving the royalties due Ghanaian musicians to them after he received a bill of about GH5000 from the organization for his recent ‘Detty Rave Concert’.
The ‘Leg Over’ hitmaker on his Instagram page asked the question “The Ghamro monies I hope dem actually dey take give the artists!!! Dear artist have you ever received performance royalties?”. This question posed by Mr. Eazi surely come to add to the many claims out there that GHAMRO despite the constant taking of monies from people does not pay the appropriate royalties to Ghanaian musicians.
The ‘Detty Rave Concert’ of Mr. Eazi which has seen him receive this bill from GHAMRO came off at the gardens of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Friday, December 28, 2018. It was a star-studded concert as Mr. Eazi was joined on stage by several musicians, some of who he’s had collaborations with and as well as some underground artists.
Big acts who thrilled music lovers on the night include, Sarkodie, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, King Promise, Patapaa, Keche, 5five, Sister Derby, Kwesi Arthur, Bisa Kdei, R2bees, and Gasmilla.
