Many industry players and music lovers in Ghana currently argue that the local music industry has been rubbing shoulders with many of the giant music industries in Africa, especially the ones in Nigeria and South Africa which arguably have more and better capital investment than that of Ghana.
The CEO of SarkCess Music, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie has revealed in an interview with Dr. Cann on his ‘Showbiz Xtra’ show on Happy FM that this assertion is very true because currently, if one decides to rate the top music industry in Africa, the Ghana music industry will be way ahead of that of South Africa.
According to the most decorated rapper in Ghana, the only music industry which will be a little ahead to that of Ghana in recent times will be that of the brothers and sisters in the Fatherland, Nigeria.
Sarkodie added that he sees this achievement in recent years as one that is laudable, especially when the music industry in Ghana cannot compete with that of the two countries in terms of proper capital injection.
