Ghanaian DJ and event promoter, Michael Mensah Ayenu, popularly known as DJ Mensah has given a succinct account on how he met Sarkodie.
Speaking in an interview with KMJ on Joy Prime’s Showbiz Now which was monitored by Zionfelix.net, the award-winning DJ disclosed that he got to know Sarkodie through a friend called Korsah.
“A friend was working with Sarkodie and he called me when I was coming back to Accra from Akosombo…Korsah called informing me that he wants me to play for Sarkodie…I have only heard of Sarkodie…I was a fine and I kinda hearted him, love him. because he didn’t have a song…it was just mixtapes….and he was getting gigs so I was like which kind of artiste gets a lot of gigs without a banger. You will always wanna listen to him at doom or whatever he brings out.
When Korsah called, I asked him how much they are going to pay…I spoke about the money first…after back and forth I have to go because his DJ didn’t show up,” he narrated.
DJ Mensah added: “I drove straight to the Conference centre and since I was from a pool party, I have to change in my car. Just when I was about to get the playlist, the producer of the show informed me that we have to be on stage.
When they gave me the list, the arrangement was bad so I went straight to Sarkodie and told him we have not done this before but follow my lead…I know your songs like that. Perform to whatever I play…We went and kill the show. I think that he got more comfortable from there knowing that we didn’t even rehearse. Since it has been like that.”
