Ghanaian filmmaker, Samuel Kwabena Darko, popularly known as Samdakus, has made an interesting revelation about how the name ‘Kumawood’ came into existence.
Speaking in an interview with Ola Michael on Neat FM’s ‘Entertainment GH’ program which was monitored by Zionfelix.net, Samdakus disclosed he had the name ‘Kumawood’ after he slept in a coffin for some time.

After being on a movie set for about three days and shot scenes day and night continuously, Samdakus, who played a role as a ghost said he was unable to wake from the coffin used for some of the scenes in the movie.
He stated that many of the people who were on the set thought he was dead—and they started to cry.
But after sleeping in the coffin for some time, Samdakus said he woke up and got the name ‘Kumawood’ following the strange incident.
The CEO of Kumawood Akoben Film Festival Awards revealed Afia Schwarzenegger was on the set when the incident happened.
He also talked about how Afia Schwarzenegger brought the idea for him to establish the Kumawood Akoben Film Festival Awards after he had registered the name ‘Kumawood’.
