The host of Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch entertainment show, Benefo Buabeng Albert popularly known as Abrantepa has said without mincing words that he will not pay a dime to interview actor Eckow Smith Asante.
He said this after the actor opined on Joy FM Monday that celebrities in the country should be paid by media houses when they are needed for interviews. Abrantepa on Tuesday’s edition of his show agreed with his panelists that certain celebrities need to charge for interviews but not all as Eckow communicated.
According to the guests on the mid-morning entertainment show, not all celebrities command same respect so they would have agreed with him if he suggested that A-list celebrities should be paid for interviews.
The panelists which included blogger and OAP Zionfelix and Nana Yaw named top Ghanaian celebrities who they think qualify to charge for interviews. To them, A-list entertainers like Sarkodie, Jackie Appiah, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Afia Schwarzenegger, Ohemaa Mercy, Yvonne Okoro, Nacee, Yvonne Nelson and few others can take cash before agreeing to talk to some media houses because they have massive followers. The two after mentioning the names quickly added that they should be paid for interviews if the media house needs an exclusive content from them.
Nana Yaw and Zionfelix continued that a media house could have paid Afia Schwarzenegger for an exclusive interview when her marriage brouhaha erupted last year because “it was a hot cake”.
When Zionfelix, a panelist and a sit-in host for the show questioned Abrantepa if he would pay Eckow Smith Asante for an interview, he laughed and replied no. Mr. Benefo Buabeng questioned why he would have to give him cash before an interview when little has been heard from him for a very long while.
