Popular actor cum politician, John Dumelo is predicting that the price of fresh tomatoes in Ghana will likely increase in the coming days following what many have described as a successful coup in neighboring Burkina Faso.
In the last 24 hours, a lot of credible news portals have reported that the military in Burkina Faso has seized power and overthrown President Roch Kaboré over what they describe as the deteriorating security situation in the country.
As a result of this successful coup, the borders of the country has been temporarily closed to prevent people from coming in or going out which is why the award-winning actor is of the strong conviction that Ghana might slightly suffer.
John Dumelo’s assertion is based on the fact that Ghana as a country gets the majority of the fresh tomatoes we use in the country from Burkina Faso. As a result, once the borders are closed, traders who go into the country to bring the staple food item into the country might not get the opportunity to do so.

He adds that those who might be brave to go there, will only use illegal routes which will mean that the transportation for the food item will increase and ultimately the ordinary Ghanaian who will have to go and buy, will buy it at a high price.

Very likely prices of tomatoes will increase in the next coming days. Burkina border closed( coup), market queens can’t cross border again to buy. The use of unapproved routes to smuggle the tomatoes in will affect the prices.
