Many has said that if you are a Kumawood star do not ever try to support National Democratic Congress because that would be the end of your career since Kumasi is the stronghold of the ruling party.
This did not deter many actors in the local movie industry from endorsing the leading opposition party during the 2016 election. One of the few Kumawood actors who gathered courage to throw their weight behind ex-president John Dramani Mahama before last year’s general election was actress cum producer Tracey Boakye. The young lady who is currently on a tour promoting the Accra premiere of her new movie, The Devil Between My Legs is overwhelmed by the love people in Kumasi showed her when she premiered the Samuel Ofori-directed movie on Easter Monday at Golden Tulip Hotel.
In a conversation with DJ Premiere on Accra FM, Miss Boakye stated that many put fear in her after she announced the Kumasi premiere date. She disclosed that they told her Kumasi folks would not attend the event because she publicly declared her support for NDC but that was false hope.
The boss of Shakira Movie Production also made it known that she was not willing to produce the movie, The Devil Between My Legs when Samuel Ofori approached her with the script because she was afraid that her involvement in politics would negatively affect the project.
The mother of one told host of the show that she was surprised to see full auditorium for the first and second premiere despite endorsing NDC ahead of the 2017 general election.
Tracey Bokaye after succesfully showing The Devil Between My Legs movie in Kumasi and Sunyani premieres the film at the Westhills Mall in Accra on Saturday, May 20.
The ‘The Devil Between My Legs’ movie produced by Shakira Movie Production features stars like an Vicker, Tracey Boakye, Samuel Ofori, Kani Gloria, Jessica Williams, Louisa Adinkra and many others.
