TV host and actress Cynthia Tima Yeboah popularly known as Tima Kumkum has spoken against the notion that students who fail to attend public universities after senior high school are ones who did not pass their final exams.
The host of popular telenovela, Kumkum Bagya on the latest webisode of hit Youtube show, Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix opined that people with such perception should have a change of mind because it is never true. To her, most students attend private universities because of the courses they want to study.
She argued that public institutions like University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the others do not offer special programs some students want hence their plan to attend private schools. The former student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast and Jayee University College further disclosed that she is a typical example of students who attended private universities not because they failed WASSCE.
Miss Yeboah added that “I wanted journalism and you know Legon does not offer that course. It is only Institute of Business Management and Journalism (IBM&J), Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), Jayee University and now AUCC which offer that course.”
Sister Cynthia continued that she passed her WASSCE but failed in one subject, Mathematics. The mother of two further told host of the show, Zionfelix that she had “F” in Mathematics when she checked the WASSCE results. The voice-over artiste continued that she later wrote Nov/Dov exams to clear the “F” grade whilst at Jayee University.
