Kurl Songx has admitted that they were in deep trouble after his song with Sarkodie ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ was released.
Following the release of the song in 2017, a section of the Krobo community and elders were furious about what Sarkodie said about Krobo women—though it was a known and alleged local folklore.
“Krobonii baa papa a ahweneɛ da ne sisi, Komfo Anokye de adwaman abɔ no dua”, he raped in Twi. In English, it means: “A beautiful Krobo lady with beads on her waist, she has been cursed with promiscuity by Komfo Anokye.”
Speaking in a recent interview on Onua FM’s Adwuma Adwuma, Kurl Songx disclosed that they met some elders of Krobo to settle the issue.
“I got to understand that it’s part of the work. We met them and solved it amicably. Together with Sarkodie’s late lawyer, my manager and we talked about it. We met I think in East Legon and we explained to them that this is not personal, its art,” he said.
The Ghanaian artiste was grateful to the elders for understanding them.
“Thanks to them, somebody else would not have understood because it was very sensitive. Sarkodie’s word were out of arts not to just tarnish someone’s image,” Kurl added.
