Lasmid faced backlash for performing poorly at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to most Ghanaians, his performance was below average.
Months after the unfortunate incident, his former manager, Kaywa, has expressed that he would have performed better if they were still working together.

In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kaywa revealed that Lasmid had left the label with the assistance of his lawyer in Nigeria.
Kaywa mentioned that if Lasmid was still under his wings, his performance at the VGMA would have been different and not disappointing.
He clarified that while he was unhappy about the performance and wishes the same never happiness to any artiste.
However, Kaywa made it clear that it would be impossible to work with Lasmid again even if he chooses to return to his label. He stated,
“There is no way we can work with him [again] because he decided to go.” Kaywa stated
