Known is real life as Ohene Adu-Nti, the versatile musician Madras has delivered, as promised, his debut Afropop single titled “Wasei Me”.
Madras, a music producer/songwriter/singer combines his vast knowledge in classical music and contemporary Afropop to produce this melodious tune that provokes the listener to both assimilate the lyrics and dance to the rhythm.
Written to celebrate his wife, “Wasei Me” talks about a lady who pampers her man in every way. It seeks to sound the horn that there are ladies out there who also “spoil” their men in a good way. The song melodiously begins with a verse in the minor mood, gradually building up into a beautiful bridge that leads to a harmonious chorus both in the major mood.
The instrumentation has the kicks and snares of a contemporary highlife rhythm combined with a Latin-style acoustic guitar, a bass on the kicks and strings with excerpts from Pachelbel’s Canon in D major featuring prominently in the chorus. The result of this combination is nothing but genius.
One cannot help but sing along and dance to this beautiful song.
