Actor Collins Oteng popularly called Komfuor Koleege has added his voice to the issue of the declining Ghanaian movie industry. News about the “dying” movie industry is not new. Many Ghanaians have made genuine concerns about how the industry is gradually taking a nosedive.
Some people suggest it is time for the government and private entities to invest in the industry. In an interview with celebrity blogger and OAP Zionfelix, the young man who has carved a niche for himself with his technological way of communicating with lesser gods in his skits admitted the industry was indeed falling off track and losing out to the infiltration of video sharing site, youtube.
According to him, this trend was seasonal making reference to when the likes of Kwaku Manu revived the industry. Komfuor Koleege believes the same thing is happening now and asked people to learn to adjust. He is of a strong view that there may be another advancement that may take over YouTube and as such people must be armed and ready.
Explaining why almost all Kumawood actors have started sharing their contents on YouTube instead of producing movies for the market, Koleege told Zionfelix on the Uncut show that time has changed so the video sharing platform is the place their followers are enjoying content .
