Top actress Nana Ama McBrown has added her voice to the few Ghanaian celebrities who have voiced out against the abuse of tramadol, an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.

Report in recent times suggests that abuse of the drug is ruining the lives of many young Ghanaians and that has gingered some celebrities to campaign against it. Gh One news anchor Nana Aba Anamoah and her team started the fight against the drug abuse months back which has received appraisal from many respectable personalities in the country.

Shatta Wale, Fancy Gadam, and few other Ghanaian entertainers also added their voices to the campaign against the drug abuse and the latest celebrity to join her colleagues is screen goddess, Felcity Ama Agyemang known in showbiz as Nana Ama McBrown.

The actress has pleaded with the youth to desist from the misuse of the medicine. Speaking on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix show with the host real name Adomako Felix, the TV presenter cum actress opined that she would not have been a superstar if she abused drugs when starting her career as an actress.

Mrs. Mensah further disclosed that she was surprised to be informed about the rate at which the youth has been abusing the drug in the past months.

After asking Ghanaians to desist from the abuse of the painkiller, McBrown also advised them to be careful with the friends they walk with since they are mostly influencing them to engage in this illicit act.

Tramadol is a pain relief drug, which according to medical experts, functions like heroin and can cause psychotic problems as well as damage vital organs in the human body if abused.

Recent surveys have shown that the drug is being abused by some youth, as well as some market women, drivers and in some cases students.

Findings have shown that Tramadol abuse has killed more people than heroin and cocaine.
