The era of freebies is officially over for Nana Yaw Nkrumah professionally known as Dr Ray Beat.
Dr. Ray is a Ghanaian record producer and sound engineer who produce music ranging from Afrobeat, Hip hop, Hiplife, Azonto dancehall and Afropop.
Dr. Ray has boldly stated that under no circumstance will he give free beats to artistes.
It is quite the norm for sound engineers to send promising beats to established artistes in order to gain some clout.
Speaking to Zionfelix, Dr. Ray definitely said not even the influence of Sarkodie or Shatta Wale will compel him to channel his inner “Santa Claus”.
According to him he no longer needs the hype, “I don’t do free stuff anymore, I don’t need any more hype at this stage in my career. I have the fame now and the next thing is to make money”, he said.
He added cost of living and maintaining the studio requires money hence the need to be paid for his services.
Dr. Ray is a force to reckon with in the industry as he has produced for big names like Guru, Kwaw Kese, Kofi Kinaata and more.
