Rapper Sarkodie and other top Ghanaian musicians have been victims of bloggers uploading their full albums online for free downloads hours after its release.

This kind of piracy has been happening for long and from the looks, it is not ending soon so Sarkodie has devised a plan to prevent his yet-to-be-released album, Highest from being a sufferer. Obidi during an album listening session on Friday, August 18 in Accra told the press that he has plans of meeting music bloggers before the album is released on September 8 this year.

Replying blogger and OAP Zionfelix who quizzed his stratagem to prevent free downloads of the ‘Highest’ album, Sarkodie disclosed that he will not be harsh on bloggers because he believes most of them have been supportive so he will have a meeting with them to brainstorm on how best they can support the album when released instead of uploading all tracks for free.

“We are not going to be harsh so what we intend doing is to start pushing the idea that it is okay for these sites to put up the music but not to upload the audio itself. You put up the link to get the music because that is what is being done out there. If you go and see Jay Z’s album on any website, you will see a link leading to the album on tidal so hopefully that is what we are aimed at achieving.

It is not too easy in this modern world but Jay So and myself have plans for that. We will have another meeting aside today’s with the bloggers and look at how we will work hand in hand so that we don’t lose.” he answered Zionfelix.
