Mel Kwasi Davis with two of his artistes

Artiste manager and event organiser, Mel Kwasi Davis has said without mincing words that none of the three musicians he managed in 2017 deserves the prestigious Artiste Of The Year award for next year’s Ghana Music Awards.

The boss of Airtime Records in an interview with Zionfelix.net mentioning names of musicians he believes should get a nod for next year’s Artiste Of The Year category failed to name any of the three artistes he managed in the year under review. Mel opined that Ebony, Fancy Gadam, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Kuami Eugene are musicians who deserve to be nominated for the topmost category at the annual music awards.

Explaining why he failed to tip any of the musicians he managed in 2017 for the award, the entertainment critic divulged that none of the three artistes he worked with in the year under review had a major hit song to fight for the award.

“The reason why I cannot put Dada Hafco, K.K Fosu or any of the artistes I managed in the Artiste of The Year category is because all the songs they released were not as big and popular as the other ones. If you compare their tunes to that of Ebony, Kuami Eugene, Stonebwoy  and the other ones, you would realise that they do not match.” Mel Kwasi Davis told Zionfelix.net.

The artiste manager who just parted ways with K.K Fosu however added that he is tipping Dada Hafco who is still under his management to get a nod in the highlife song of the year category with his single “Bedianko”.

“Nevertheless, I am tipping somebody like Dada Hafco for Highlife Song of The Year because his ‘Bedianko’ song is beautiful. That song has so far registered in the Highlife category. K.K did not release a lot of songs in the year under review because he was busily working on his upcoming album, I’m Back. His intentional travels did not also permit him to release a lot of songs” he added.

Mel Kwasi Davis, boss of Airtime Records and Event Republic managed musicians K.K Fosu, Dada Hafco and Perpetual Didier in the year 2017.

Ziofelix.net reported not long ago about Mel’s split with one of his artistes, Mr. D-Style.
