After an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong on Onua FM Saturday afternoon, Gospel musician Patience Nyarko decided to spark a huge controversy with comments she made about her colleague Joe Mettle.
In the view of Patience Nyarko, the “Hide Me” crooner, doesn’t deserve the high pedestal many industry players have placed him because most of the songs they celebrate him with are not his but old Pentecost and Methodist songs.
She further emphasized that all the appellations industry players have been given Joe Mettle all this while is not right because he has not yet gotten to that level.
In the video sighted, Patience Nyarko said: “Joe Mettle has not gotten to where he’s being placed by the public. The way people are lifting him up there, he’s not gotten there yet…,”
“How many English songs does Joe Mettle have? Is it not Pentecost and Methodist songs that he sings? If these churches decide to stop people from singing their songs, what would be the fate of Joe Mettle?”, she added.
It should be noted that her argument and description of Joe Mettle as a literal ‘small boy’ in the gospel music industry came at the back of the suggestion of Alordia, an event and music promoter that Joe Mettle is the only artiste in Ghana who has international appeal because he uses the English Language in his songs.
