Amid Piesie Esther’s campaign to win Artiste of the Year at the VGMA 2023, others countered her chance of winning.
After Black Sherif won the Artiste of the Year, critics have questioned why she expected to win this award with just one song.
She replied to her critics during an interview with Berla Mundi.
In the interview sighted by Zionfelix.net, the popular Gospel musician said if she won, that wouldn’t have been the first time someone had won with just a song.

Piesie maintained that it had happened before and she didn’t know why people were making such comments.
The ‘W’aye Me Yie’ singer mentioned Joe Mettle, Diana Hamilton, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie who have won the Artiste of the Year with one song.
She also acknowledged the hard work of Black Sherif, adding that he deserved to win the Artiste of the Year.
